Well pump service & repair

Most well problems in the High Desert come down to a handful of causes, and the crew has seen them all. The most common failure we find is a failed bladder (pressure) tank that throws the system out of calibration and starts rapid-cycling the pump. The second is a simple hole in the drop pipe. Both are cheap to fix compared to the burned-up pump they cause if they’re left alone.

  • Submersible pump repair and replacement
  • Drop pipe, wire and check valve replacement
  • Control box and pressure switch troubleshooting (amp readings tell us the health of the pump)
  • Pump trucks that pull up to 16,000 lb, so deep desert wells are no problem
  • Most jobs finished in one day
  • A clear explanation and estimate before any work begins

Emergency pump service

When the taps go dry, you don’t need a voicemail box. Call or text (760) 780-2144. If Sam is on the drilling rig he won’t pick up the phone (it’s a safety hazard), so a text with your town and what’s happening gets the fastest answer.

  • 24/7 emergency pump service
  • Call or text: texting works best when the crew is on a rig
  • Two fully stocked pump service trucks
  • 4x4 pump truck for snowy and steep mountain lots

Well inspections & certifications

Buying or selling a home on a well in San Bernardino County almost always means a well certification. Superior writes reports in plain language that buyers can actually read, includes digital photos with every inspection, and bills through escrow so nobody pays upfront. The crew works with agents and brokers all over the High Desert and turns certs around fast to meet closing deadlines.

  • Well productivity (flow) test
  • Bacteriological test (total coliform), with optional nitrate, nitrite and lead tests
  • Pump performance, plumbing and electrical inspection
  • Well construction check: casing, seal, wellhead, pit sets and hand-dug wells
  • Written report in plain language with digital photos
  • Billed through escrow

Pressure tanks & storage tanks

A healthy pressure tank is what keeps your pump from switching on every time someone fills a glass. When the bladder fails, the pump short-cycles and wears itself out. We replace and size pressure tanks, set the switch and tank pre-charge correctly, and install and repair the water storage tanks many desert homes rely on.

  • Bladder pressure tank replacement and sizing
  • Pressure switch and tank pre-charge setup
  • Water storage tank installation and repair
  • Pump and pressure tank maintenance

Water quality testing

Every well certification includes a coliform bacteria test. Add nitrate, nitrite and lead testing for a fuller report. If your water suddenly changes color, smell or taste, don’t drink it until it has been tested: use bottled water and call.

  • Total coliform bacteria
  • Nitrate and nitrite
  • Lead

Well drilling & deepening

From a new homestead well in Lucerne Valley to a deepened well whose water level has fallen away, Superior runs its own drilling rigs, including a hard-rock rig. The drillers bring decades of combined field experience and know where High Desert water is plentiful and where it isn’t. Every new well needs a San Bernardino County well permit, signed by the owner and a County-registered C-57 driller.

  • New domestic and agricultural wells
  • Well deepening
  • Hard-rock drilling
  • Depths to 1,000 ft, diameters up to 18 in
  • County permit paperwork handled with you

Buying land? Well-site advice

Land in the High Desert is plentiful, but the water under it is not the same everywhere. Some lots sit over sweet, plentiful water at 200 feet. Others need 500 or 600 feet of drilling for a few gallons a minute, or have water too salty to use. Call before you buy and get a straight answer from people who drill here.

  • Free on-site consultation
  • Local depth and yield experience
  • Water quality red flags (salt, sulfur, lakebed areas)
  • Advice on shared and community wells

Inside a well cert

What the lender gets.

A clear written report with digital photos: how much water the well makes, whether the water passed its bacteria test, and the condition of the pump, plumbing, electrical and well construction. Optional nitrate, nitrite and lead tests can be added.

Billed through escrow, scheduled around your closing date.

No water?

Check the breaker. Then call.

If the well pump’s breaker has tripped, reset it once. If it trips again, leave it off and call (760) 780-2144. Never open the pressure switch, control box or wellhead wiring: they’re live at 240 volts.

Water changed?

Don’t drink it yet.

If your water suddenly changes color, smell or taste, or after a flood, don’t drink it until it has been tested. Use bottled water and follow the County health department’s guidance.
